….ask anyone in the restaurant industry and they will tell you mornings are a hell shift. Getting people motivated first thing in the a.m. can be a bit challenging. There are very few “morning people”  in this business. A lot of them have closed the night before, either at that particular restaurant or another one. And by closing, I mean one of two things: worked till close or partied till close.  So this morning was particularly challenging, as we were expecting a news crew to come in to report on an event we were hosting later in the morning. I didn’t find out about it until yesterday afternoon. They wanted to come in an hour earlier than we usually start the shift and I wasn’t able to get in touch with any staff untill late last night. I went in at 3:30 a.m. to get the food started and everything set up for the camera crew by 5:00 a.m. Fortunately, my front of the house staff made it in early.(You ladies rock! A special shout out to Jen!) Not much had been accomplished the night before, so we were a pack of whirling dervishes and one tazmanian devil (that would be your’s truly). I don’t think even having this physical advantage

would have helped much. Anyway, we got ‘er done.

Just for the record, the news crew showed up over an hour late.
